CAUSATIVE

Pengertian

Causative adalah kalimat yang digunakan untuk menyuruh orang lain.

Pemakaian

Bentuk kalimat Causative / kalimat suruhan ada dua macam, yaitu dengan “have” dan “get”.

Subjek menyuruh objek melakukan tindakan.

S + HAVE / GET + O +V₁

Contoh:

The director has ( gets) the secretary type the letters.

She had ( got ) Dika wash the car.

I have(get )Mr. Amir cut the tree.

Subjek menginginkan sesuatu.

S + HAVE /GET + O +V₃

Contoh:

The director has( gets) the letters type.

She had (got) the car wash.

She had the book returned.

Makna Causative

Apabila causative dengan kata kerja pasif dan orang yang disuruh tidak disebutkan dalam soal maka yang disuruh adalah orang lain.

Contoh:

She has the letters typed => She asked someone to type the letters.

She had the car washed   => She asked someone to wash the car.

RUMUS PRAKTIS CAUSATIVE HAVE / GET

HAVE                  OB  + V III S +   HAS                     OM + V I tanpa to HAD

S  + GET                        OM + TO + V I GOT                        OM + VIII

Means: Ask someone to do something. Subjek tidak bekerja

 Contoh soal:

My little brother had scatter all his toys on my bed, so I had him (clear/to clear/cleared/be clearing/to be cleared) the bed before night fell.‘This cake is delicious , is it home made?’

‘You know it isn’t (Ibake it my self/Lucy asked me to bake it/It was I who baked it/I had Lucy bake it/I had to bake it)

‘Is your car new?’

‘No, I (had only painted it/only had it painted/had to paint it only/only had painted/had been asked to paint it) at my brother’s garage’.

I don’t know how to arrange these flowers. I’d rather (do it/ have to do it/ have it done/ it has been done/ have done it)
